Google Logos

Google has had several logos since its renaming from "BackRub". The current official Google logo was designed by Ruth Kedar, and is a logotype based on the Catull typeface.[1] The company also includes various modifications and/or humorous features, such as cartoon modifications, of their logo for use on holidays, birthdays of famous people, and major events, such as the Olympics. These special logos, some designed by Dennis Hwang, have become known as Google Doodles.

Monkey vs Tiger Doing Taekwondo on Google Logo -- Olympics Design

태권도!!! Wow, replacing the letter "g" in the Google logo is a pair of black-belt taekwondo fighters -- Monkey versus Tiger! (I thought the one on the left was a man until I noticed the tail.) Google already featured a tiger and a monkey earlier in their Olympics series. This time, it's the monkey that's more anthropomorphized. Do you think their arm / legs sort of form the letter "g" in the word Google? Have to admit that taekwondo is one of my favorite Olympics sporting events......

Google Frank Lloyd Wright Logo

Google's logo commemorating Frank Lloyd Wright's birthday in 2005. Google apparently admires Wright's work, and is seeking to take over the Guggenheim museum in order to rebrand it.

Dragon Plays Table Tennis on Google Logo for Olympics

Wow, another dragon! Google had recently featured a dragon playing basketball on its logo in commemmoration of the Olympics. This time, the red dragon is playing ping-pong! The first "o" in the the word Google is represented by the paddle, the second "o" is formed by the dragon's body, and the letter "g" is formed by its tail. Did I get the description right this time? :)

Rooster Playing Ball on Google Logo - Olympics Design

Question: Is that a rooster playing baseball or softball on Google's logo? Has a good, strong arm... I mean, wing. What I know for sure is that ball is replacing the second "o" in the word Google. The rooster is one of the Chinese zodiac animals. With the Olympics close to wrapping up, which animal has Google yet to put on its homepage? ...

Horse Playing Soccer on Google Logo

Google's logo designs during the Olympics really are so clever. See my photoset: Google Homepage Designs for Olympics. The horse replaces the letter "g" in the word Google and its back legs are kicking the soccer ball into the net, right? What am I missing?

Renee Magritte Google Logo

Google's logo commemorating the famous Surrealist painter, Renee Magritte. Magritte is one of my favorite artists! The apple with a hat over it is referencing Magritte's painting, The Son of Man, which depicts a man with a bowler hat whose face is obscured by a green apple. Magritte was also well known for a sequence of paintings of objects wherein he'd depict the object and then add the title, "This is not a ____." So, there's also a painting of a greenish apple, "Ceci n'est pas une pomme" -- "This is not an apple".

Swimming Reptile (?) on Google Logo -- Olympics Design Series

Now I really need the help of you guys. What is that swimming animal on Google's logo? A snake, a lizard? Oh, wait... The snake is one of the Chinese zodiac animals! I thought that was an arm / shoulder but looking closely it appears to be a curve in its serpentine body ~ And there are other animal swimmers lagging behind it in the other lanes. (Must be the Michael Phelps in the snake kingdom!) So the snake's face -- with goggles and yellow swimming cap -- represents the second "o" in the word Google. And the Chinese seal is under the letter...

Google's logo commemorates Marc Chagall's birthday

The Google logo commemorating the birthday of the painter, Marc Chagall, today. Google has created commemorative logos like this many times now, and they typically will hyperlink the logo over to the search results related to the subject matter as they did with this one.

Horse and Rabbit on Google Logo -- Olympics Design Series

Two racing animals on latest Google logo! I see a horse and a rabbit representing the two o's in the word Google. Those are two among the Chinese zodiac animals. Do those long ears make it a hare? Is that a fair match-up? I mean, between a horse and a rabbit. ...

Rabbit (?) Doing High Jump on Google Logo - Olympics Design

Oh, dear. Is that another rabbit on Google's logo? Well, it's an animal with long, floppy ears doing the high jump and the bar is placed above the letter "g" in the word Google. Help! ...
